The second in this series, we find Ava still struggling to understand what has happened to her. Getting a reprieve from the council, did not make her life any easier. She still is forced to work for a vampire and is expected to chase down Becca, now slowly turning into the Beast.
The self doubt is quite clear for this character. She is getting stronger but not with the sudden jumps that commonly come in paranormal books. The tension with Carl is growing heavy on her mind. And her neighbor is more than a simple slutty woman.
Again the feel of a book not written in my native country is interesting to me. There are differences that will throw some readers off but they intrigue me. This author is very talented and deserves a read. Her books might be short by today's standards of doorstops but they are emmersive and fun all around.
